  1. QUACK Sound Effects Studio V3.0.1

  4. Release 3.0.1 fixes a potential problem with the Music Modulator component. It
  5. is a minor upgrade to 3.0. The information below relates to both 3.0 and 3.0.1
  6.  
  7. QUACK V3.0 has a new look, some great new components, and a whole lot more.
  8. Here are the diferences since V2.0:
  9.  
  10. New components
  11. --------------
  12.  
  13. Sequencer - sequence, delay and repeat up to 4 different sounds to build
  14. complex sound sequences out of basic elements (you can also daisy-chain
  15. Sequencer components to add more than 4 sounds).
  16.  
  17. Echo - you can guess what this component does!
  18.  
  19. Music modulator - allows you to set oscillator frequencies in terms of 
  20. musical notes rather than Hertz, and also to generate musically linear FM.
  21.  
  22. Fuzz - amplitude clipping to add distortion effects, in a variety of ways
  23.  
  24. Comb filter - the classic delay-line notch filter, which can do wonderful
  25. things to white noise and other complex signals.
  26.  
  27. Top Hat filter - another classic filter, the moving average filter, in
  28. both lowpass and highpass variants.
  29.  
  30. Tweak - floating windows which can be attached to key parameters, making it
  31. much easier to change values while experimenting.

  33. Some existing components have been improved:

  35. Sawtooth, Squarewave - now the mark/space ratio can be controlled
  36. dynamically.

  38. Noise - now has an offset value.

  40. All oscillators - are now phase adjustable.

  43. Usability enhancements
  44. ----------------------

  46. The most visible new feature is the new-look component icons - both the
  47. icons and their inputs are colour coded according to a standard system so
  48. that it is much easier to see what is going on.

  50. QUACK can now be registered by password, so you can register by email
  51. without having to wait for your disk to arrive by post.
  52.  
  53. Our example patch maps are now cataloged and indexed in HTML, so that you
  54. can use your preferred Web Browser to search for examples which illustrate
  55. techniques which interest you.

  57. Our new tools menu allows you to launch your favorite companion applications
  58. from within QUACK. Improved "Set Soundfile" functionality makes it easier
  59. to fine tune your creations. We also hope that our new Win95 style Help
  60. and Tip Of The Day will make life easier.

  63. Shareware Version
  64. -----------------

  66. If you are using a shareware version of QUACK, please read the information
  67. under Help|Registration, and register within 30 days if you wish to continue
  68. using the product. You will then receive a password which will unlock the
  69. full functionality of QUACK.

  71. Note that the shareware version is save disabled - if you want to save your
  72. completed patch maps, you will have to register. But don't worry, it is 
  73. still available at the same low price it has always been!
